what are we about?
after is our antidote to the helplessness we feel as young people in a world that seems increasingly out of control
We aim to explore positive alternatives to the status quo, and connect our audience with the organisations, projects and people on working to make them happen.
Frequently asked questions
-
after party, our main monthly event series, combines moderated discussions and issue-focused workshops with a casual, group chat vibe. We host guest moderators with expert knowledge of the chosen topic and invite them to share their expertise, engage with our participants and together identify solutions to carry into our own political lives, work and activism.
After Party is a social space, with plenty of new faces, free snacks, and spontaneous evening plans usually following for those who want to continue the fun into the night. However, there’s no pressure to participate beyond what feels comfortable — After is a resource to use however suits you.

If the topic of an event sounds interesting or important to you, then you already have everything you need to take part. You might want to think of some ideas you have about the topic or questions to put to our guests, but this isn’t necessary and it’s totally fine to sit back and listen.
If you’re not sure if you vibe with the ethos of our project, you can check out our principles here. Beyond that, our events don’t require any particular background in politics or economics, so don’t worry about fitting a certain mould. -
After is a post-school Gen Z project, so most of us fall somewhere between 18-30.
That’s not a hard limit at either end though - our events are alcohol-free and would be suitable for confident 15-17 year olds, and we wouldn’t ID any older Millennials who’d like to get involved.
-
Our events are always free, with food and soft drinks on the house.

No, and never. After is independent, donor-funded, and non-partisan.
That doesn’t mean we have no point of view - we aren’t afraid to commit to a consistent moral position - but our events focus on ideas and strategy, not parties and politicians. After isn’t part of a specific movement or political ideology - we aim to build stronger ideas through dialogue and welcome diverse perspectives at our events. Instead, we are guided by a set of shared ethical principles, which can be found here.
